People app
Important connections made through weak ties (1). We get new jobs, meet future partners, find help we need because of our extended networks.
Social media revolution enabled us to leverage our network as never before. People were finding jobs and co-founders via Twitter. It was a magical moment in technology. But it shifted towards propagating content more than rich context of our lives. Arguably, social media is broken and it is an opportunity.
If we want to do better in life, we need both quality and reach. A network where our reputation matters and where we can be helpful.
This is what People app is all about.
I’m building a better way to connect and share what you care about. No clickbaits, but rich context of your life. Not volume, but substance.
To make it work, we introduce artificial scarcity. You can only join by invite, and we are never going to open the network to just everyone. We are not chasing explosive numbers, we are chasing high quality of connections.
The people app is asking you to bring on board only 12 people and only people you trust, people who you know will also recommend high quality others extending your reach. We all know people in our network who are chasing attention. And people who maybe quiet, but are incredibly helpful.
Instead of content, we are focusing on intent. What or who are you looking for? Placing your request into a network you know it will be shared with people you trust and people they trust. You are in control to extend your request to trusted 144, 1728, or 20k. We believe that a trusted network of 20k will bring a lot of value to your life.
At different stages in life, we look for different things from our communities. And we create networks for different purposes. We may have design school friends, entrepreneurs, rugby players. These networks may overlap, but have distinctly different qualities for us. We know where to ask about UX designer, where to look for a tech co-founder, and where for a Sunday game.
People app helps you to manage your core network and (as a premium feature) add new specialized networks, each going deep into a specific purpose in your life. Moving to a new city? Create a new network focusing on this location. Building a side project? Find people who can help you with it.
The promise of People app is that we will never exploit your connections for selling stuff to you or them. Our business model is aligned with your interests: we charge for high-quality product, not making you one.
People app is a better way to think about people, share with people, build teams, and stay in touch.
And, of course, we are building with natural interfaces and natural agents. You will be able to talk to your network and discover valuable new connections in a conversation.
People app is now in development, and we started to build our first networks. If you are reading this, you might be one of the few people who may join us. Get on the waiting list.
Learn about some use cases and my favorite one, reason why now, and a cool ux feature we are building in. It is a developing story.
