Communities
A good community is a room people want to be in. Before anyone walks in, they need to see the door.
Every community on Kith Rabbit can bring people in with a single link. A link alone does not tell you why you would want to join. So for a handful of communities I build a front door: one page that says why the room exists, how it runs, and how to get in.
The pages share a pattern. First, why: the problem the room solves, in plain words. Then how it runs: what goes in the main chat, what goes in threads, and who checks posts before everyone sees them. Then the house rules, so you know what kind of room you are walking into. And one button to join.
What changes is the character. Each room gets its own:
- Dim Sum Diffs is tech news with pure signal and no noise. The page reads like a dim sum order sheet: plus signal, minus noise.
- Amazing Tech Events HK lists only tech events worth going to. Every post is a departure, like the sign on a green minibus: where, when, and how to get on.
- Dogs & Babies is an unofficial room for Discovery Bay neighbours, named the way everyone actually calls the place: the ferry, the beach, the dogs and the babies.
- Next BIG Asia scouts Asia's next big startups together: a feed of finds, not opinions, with the arguing kept in threads.
- Zero to 852 is for founders scaling from zero to 852, Hong Kong's dialling code, by sharing real dashboards instead of pitches.
A page like this has one job: to turn a curious visitor into a member who already knows what belongs in the room. That makes the room easier to run from the first day.
